Israel and Jewish culture will be in focus at this year’s CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival held between October 6 and 22, the chief organiser said. Programmes featuring Israeli art will include acts by the Israel Ballet, the Avishai Cohen Trio and Avi Avital and Omer Avital, Csaba Káel said.

Twice as many Hungarian voters prefer Viktor Orbán, the incumbent prime minister, to his chief left-wing rival, Lázsló Botka, according to a survey by the Századvég Foundation. Fully 51% said they would prefer to see Orbán stay in his current position while 22% said they wanted Botka, the Socialist Party’s prime-minister candidate, to replace him.

Hungarian climber Dávid Klein has given up his attempt to become the first Hungarian to conquer Mount Everest without supplementary oxygen and has turned back, the expedition’s press chief said. Klein’s partner, Szilárd Suhajda, turned back on Wednesday morning after falling ill the night before.
