At the opening event, Minister of State for Sport of the Ministry of Human Resources István Simicskó welcomed the 3000 participants from 30 countries. The IDBF Dragon Ship World Championship is taking place for the first time in Szeged, South Hungary, from July 23 to 28 where several athletes are competing.

As we know only too well, teachers’ salaries are extremely low in Hungary and teachers haven’t had a raise since the 2008 financial crisis. Given the fairly high inflation rate, at least until recently, the already very low living standards of teachers have further deteriorated in the last five years.

This week I visited the Humana second hand shop on Szent István boulevard, between Jászai Mari square and Nyugati railway station. I’ve heard a lot about this one, so I decided to give it a go. You can spot it from quite the distance, thanks to its yellow signs. The shop window gave a promising look, so I’ve entered with high hopes and immediate disappointment followed.

Several programmes for children and military parades were organized in Budapest with a view to commemorating the rightly famous triumphant siege of Nándorfehérvár (currently Belgrade) in 1456, which has become deeply rooted in European historical memory by the practice of ringing church bells at noon.
National Philharmonic’s Open Air Beethoven Concerts In Martonvásár, Hungary

It has been 55 years since the first concert was given in the grounds of Martonvásár Manor House, the former residence of the Brunszvik family, under age-old lime trees only 32 km from Budapest. Besides the National Philharmonic these concerts feature excellent artists from Hungary and abroad.
Court Orders Access To Budapest Opera Data

The Constitutional Court yesterday struck down lower court rulings which rejected a request for access to data related to an audit of the State Opera. Tamás Bodoky, editor of the transparency website Atlatszo.hu, asked the National Resources Ministry for access to a report by a ministerial commissioner on the audit of the Opera two years ago.
