Pope Meets Hungarian Bishops

Pope Francis received members of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference in the Vatican on Monday. At their meeting with the pontiff, the bishops discussed topical issues of Hungary’s Catholic Church and society, Bishop András Veres said after the two-hour talks.

Sebastião Salgado photographer (born Aimorés, Brazil, 1944) following his previous long-term projects, between 2004 and 2011 made more than 30 different trips into the distant corners of the globe to capture nature in its original state. After numerous successful exhibitions the Genesis project - consisting of 245 spectacular black and white photographs – now in Budapest!

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
The theme for 2017 is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.”

The European Police Academy (CEPOL) in Budapest held an event on Tuesday to evaluate the organisation’s achievements last year. Speakers at the event noted the “great demand” for a closer cooperation between national law-enforcement organisations of European countries to effectively meet challenges.
