Liberal commentators portray Wednesday’s decision by the Kúria, Hungary’s supreme court to reject a referendum on Budapest’s bid for the 2024 Olympic games, as politically motivated.On 444, Péter Erdélyi ridicules the Kúria’s explanation that the referendum could not be held before Hungary’s bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games is submitted.

Sixty per cent of the Hungarian population would support a Hungarian application to organise Summer Olympic and Paraolympic events, a survey carried out a month ago by the pollster Ipsos on a 1000-member sample reveals. 54 per cent of respondents said that the Hungarian capital is capable of hosting the world’s largest sports event within twenty years.

"Sunday afternoon I finally went to the horse races at Kincsem Park in Budapest. This venue was built in 1925, and named after the horse Kincsem that won 54 races in the 1870's. It is very easy to get to - just take Metro 2 to the Pillango Ut stop. Go around the station through the tunnel and then follow the path along the white railings (bear left). Mike Kelly is one half of the Madhouse Theatre Company, which has been entertaining audiences here in Hungary for the past ten years. On 21 April 2010 the Merlin Theatre Budapest will stage a unique charity event by presenting the popular play 'One Set To Love' to help with Cancer research. Just a few days after that Mr. Kelly will run a marathon for the same good cause.
