Zoltán Fekete, a senior executive at the company, said in front of the economy ministry that the ban which would include blocking Uber’s website goes against modern trends and innovation. Uber operates in 415 cities worldwide but its website is not blocked anywhere, Fekete said.

NAV has so far conducted 250 inspections in the form of “test rides” and levied fines of 3.6 million forints (EUR 11,500) during the period, it said. The number of home building permits issued in Hungary in the first quarter rose by an annual 100.1% to 4,765, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. The number of home building permits issued in Budapest rose by 78% to 1,280. In county seats and cities with over 50,000 residents, the number climbed 145% to 1,296.
