The venue of the series of evenings “Wine & Violin”, the Fono Music Hall (Fonó Budai Zeneház), is a relatively small, intimate place in Buda. This is the ideal combination for a relaxing night out in Budapest. The exhibition part of the events shows some of the finest Hungarian contemporary stringed instruments, accompanied by the most wonderful wines from different parts of Hungary.

I went along to The Britannica International School open week. What can be a better way to find out about a school than from the pupils themselves? I had the pleasure of being part of a guided tour for future parents and children led by two charming year 6 pupils.

On a cold, wet Sunday afternoon, what better way to enjoy yourself than with some wonderful food and drink? And the crowds did come out to enjoy the annual Mangalica Festival. If you fancy a taste of a pig that came close to extinction just a few decades ago, the magnificent mangalica meat is said to be even tastier and healthier than regular pork.

After over twenty years, the popular Irish bar will close its doors on Monday for the last time. It came in with a bang and certainly went out with one. And as sure as eggs are eggs, “Becketts” will be back again, not in another lifetime but hopefully very soon.

When it comes to giving, it is said that it is better to give than to receive. This is exactly what the NAWA have been doing a lot of recently. I went along to two events that they were hosting. The first was in a long line of events called “Adopt a Granny” and the other was a gift exchange.

This is not for the fainthearted. It had all the fire and passion you expect in a game of rugby but on two wheels. The competitors take no prisoners, and if you get in the way of these flying wheels, then be sure, you are tough enough to take it. I was hopping about and that was just on the side-lines.
