The National Assembly voted Monday to fast-track a vote on the government’s controversial bill on higher education, also known as Lex CEU. In a 115-49 vote, the assembly approved a request for an emergency parliamentary procedure, and will vote on the bill before noon on Tuesday. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán (pictured above) voted in favor of the expedited procedure.

Hungary’s real-term GDP growth is expected to be 3.5 percent this year, the European Commission said in its 2017 winter economic forecast released on Monday, in an upward revision from the 2.6 percent growth predicted in its earlier autumn forecast in November.
