Best of Hungarian Textile Art on Show at Budapest's Pesti Vigadó
Select pieces of outstanding Hungarian textile art will be on display at the exhibition titled "Limit of Tolerance" opening on October 28 at the Pesti Vigadó, where visitors can view 130 works.

Following Szombathely, the most outstanding Hungarian works of the 8th International Textile Art Triennial will be on display in Budapest for the first time, while the exhibition will also be a precursor to the triennial that will be renewed in 2027, the organisers told MTI.

One of the special features of the exhibition, which can be visited until December 7, is that the most outstanding pieces from the five defining categories of the International Textile Art Triennial will be shown together for the last time:

"Wall and space textiles, textile design works, miniature textiles, and ribbons and flags. The next triennial will be organised in a renewed structure, so the exhibition is simultaneously a retrospective overview, an opening and a closing".

The Cultural Foundation for Textile Art, a non-profit organization, organises one of the oldest traditional contemporary textile art exhibitions in the Central European region every three years, which has been hosted by the Szombathely Art Gallery for 50 years.

Applications were received from 29 countries on five continents for the exhibition. A total of 505 artists applied, of which the jury selected 262 works by 214 artists.

The Budapest exhibition will feature, among other things, Éva Sipos's work entitled Table, combining wool, metal thread, linen, and French tapestry materials, which won the Ministry of Culture and Innovation award. Special works include the clothing sculptures of Edit Szűcs, who received the F. Dózsa Katalin Award in recognition of her creative and educational work, which was first presented in Szombathely last year.

The Textile Artist of the Year 2025 award, which was awarded to Anna Regős last year, will also be presented at the opening on October 28. The artist's wall textile work titled Protective Net, consisting of 258 folded, sewn cotton masks, will also be on display in the exhibition.
