Reciprocal Response: Hungary Blocks Ukrainian News Outlets
- 30 Sep 2025 6:46 AM
In a Facebook post, Gergely Gulyas said Ukraine, in spite of its European Union aspirations, had blocked several foreign news portals, including Hungarian ones, because they had criticised the sanctions against Russia, military support for Ukraine, and had described the EU and NATO as "fragmented and not too effective".
"But the real crime is that they dared to report on the influence activities of the Soros Foundation," Gulyas said.
"Hungary today is taking reciprocal measures against Ukrainian news portals, which will now be blocked on Hungary’s territory," he added.
"I don’t think many people read Ukraine’s Pravda, or would even want to," Gulyas said.
"But a sovereign country has to give a proportional response to a totally unjustified attack."
"And if the fragmentation of the European Union justifies state censorship in Ukraine, then it’s time for Ukraine to give up its intention to join," he said, adding that the EU would become "even more fragmented" if Ukraine became a member.
"And if someone desires censorship, it would be better for them to limit the Soros Foundation’s interference in the domestic politics of sovereign countries, not their freedom of expression about this," he added.
Gulyas said the 12 Ukrainian news sites Hungary has decided to block are:
1. tsn.ua
2. oboz.ua
3. anons-zak.com.ua
4. ungvar.uz.ua/
5. zakarpattya.net.ua/
6. pravda.com.ua
7. hromadske.ua
8. nv.ua
9. lb.ua
10. insiderinfo.com.ua
11. uaonline.com.ua
12. eurointegration.com.ua
