The magazine looked at job listings, called employers looking to hire, spoke to employees, and looked at studies that sized up work-related stress among employees and managers. Mayor István Tarlós indicated that he is prepared to put up with a threatened two-day strike by some unions of public transport company BKV rather than grant the wage increases they are asking for. Interviewed on TV2 Thursday morning, Tarlós said the two-day strike – scheduled for June 11-12 – is not the end of the world, adding “let’s not act like a nuclear war is about to break out”.

Average gross wages in Hungary rose by an annual 3.4% to 234,367 forints (778 euros) in February. Net wages rose at the same pace to 153,511 forints, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Hungarians took home 12,446 forints in bonuses in February, on average, 9.5% more than in the same month a year earlier.
