Tibor Szanyi, an MEP of the oppositions Socialists, apologised on Wednesday for his “careless” approach that “hurt some people’s sensitivity” when he invited far-right bikers to Brussels. Szanyi was slapped on the wrist by his party’s disciplinary committee for hosting members of an organisation called the Goy Motorists.

Socialist Party leader József Tóbiás, lashing out at fellow left-wingers, declared that his party would no longer be willing to strike compromises. “The Socialist leadership has decided to no longer take part in a game of elites, will not strike bad compromises and will open to the public, to the people,” he vowed. He also branded Ferenc Gyurcsány, DK’s leader as “authoritarian”.

The first Budapest Half Marathon was organised in 1984. During the last 29 years the race grew up into a major event in Budapest with 12 850 runners. 8500 runners on the individual 21 km distance, while others run in pairs or run the shorter distances. Budapest Half Marathon also became a real international event with almost 1600 runners from abroad, from 65 different countries in 2013.
