- 19 Mar 2010 11:01 AM
"Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited Eurasia's largest synagogue, the Dohány Street Synagogue on Thursday 18 March. They met leaders of different Hungarian Jewish organisations, and were guided by Dr. Róbert Frölich, Chief Rabbi.
Their Royal Highnesses were briefed about the building's history and its restoration and met members of the Jewish Community. Students of the Sándor Seibert Primary and Secondary School performed a play. Their Royal Highnesses were then shown the synagogue's unique graveyard, Righteous Memorial and met the sculptor of the Willow Tree sculpture.
Prior to their departure, following Jewish traditions, Their Royal Highnesses paid tribute to those Jewish Hungarians, who perished in the Holocaust by placing a stone to their memorial."
