Placebo Concert, Budapest Sports Arena, 15 September
- 15 Sep 2010 1:10 AM
Obviously there is no need to confirm the news after this, but we will do so anyway: the news is true and PLACEBO really are coming in September. Tickets will go on sale soon via the Ticketpro network.
The band’s sixth studio album entitled Battle For The Sun came out last year and frontman Brian Molko described it as follows: “it’s not hard rock, but neither is it pop… I would say it’s hard pop”. Then he added: “we made an album which shows that we choose life and that we step out of the darkness into the light…” “of course we will not deny our dark past, as that is part of us, but we choose sunshine”.
From the statement above it is clear that the band have radically changed their former point of view and have adjusted their music accordingly.
Placebo, a band which plays British alternative rock, was formed in 1994. The current members are Brian Molko, Stefan Olsdal and Steve Forrest.
In 1996 someone showed Placebo’s demos to David Bowie, who was so fascinated by what he heard, that he immediately asked the band to be his support act on his European tour. The same year Placebo recorded their first album. After this, they issued a new album every 2-3 years and from every one of these albums, several EPs made it onto the hit lists. They collaborated with the best of the pop-rock scene, including Michael Stipe (REM), Frenchman Dimitri Tikovoi (Goldfrapp, the Cranes), Linkin Park...
In September, the songs of the Battle For The Sun album can be heard live in Budapest, but the band will also perform the older PLACEBO songs as well… so the night of 15 September promises to be a very enjoyable one..."
