Court Finds Head Of Radical Group Responsible For Damage In 2006 Riots In Budapest
"László Toroczkai, head of the irredentist 64 Counties Youth Movement, is responsible for causing Ft 70 million in damage to police equipment during the siege of MTV in September 2006, the Kúria ruled on Wednesday. His lawyer, Jobbik MP Tamás Gaudi-Nagy, said the trial will continue at the Budapest Court as regards the sum of compensation.

Budapest Police sued Toroczkai demanding Ft 10 million, claiming that the far right activist was the organiser of the riot on Szabadság tér on September 18, 2006.

Toroczkai urged demonstrators who had gathered on Kossuth tér after Ferenc Gyurcsány’s Balaton szöd speech was leaked to the media to walk to Szabadság tér and have a petition read out on MTV.

The angry crowd caused Ft 29 million worth of damage as it laid siege to and eventually entered the MTV building.

They also caused more than Ft 70 million worth of damage to police equipment."
