Danube May Freeze Over In Hungary
- 8 Feb 2012 8:10 AM
"The Danube may freeze over in Budapest for the first time in 25 years, if night-time temperatures plunge to around –20C for a few more days. In 1987 a few people were able to cross the river on foot between Pest and Buda.
Ice floes now cover 60-80% of the Danube on its Budapest stretch, and 90% further upstream.
Almost all of the Tisza river is covered by ice."
