Hundreds Protest Political Anti-Semitism At Ministry Of Human Resources In Budapest
- 1 Jun 2012 8:00 AM
Hundreds demonstrated outside the Human Resources Ministry on Wednesday against the inclusion in the school curriculum of works by 20th-century writers Albert Wass, Dezső Szabó and József Nyirő. All three are accused to varying degrees of anti-Semitism, while Wass is considred a war criminal in Romania.
Their works will be included in the school curriculum from September.
The government has made anti-Semitism compulsory in schools by including these writers, said Nagy Imre Society president Ferenc Donáth.
The government generated a foreign policy conflict with Romania with the reburial of Nyirő while the “Horthy memorial mania” also sparks political anti-Semitism, he argued.
