Hungarian Police Investigating Far-Right Website’s Reward For Information On Anti-Nazi Protesters
Police have begun an investigation on suspicion of incitement against a community after far-right website Kuruc offered a Ft 100,000 reward to those who demonstrated outside the home of suspected war criminal László Csatáry on July 16. Many have since been harassed by far-right activists.

The protesters demanded action after British journalists found Csatáry in his Buda flat, months after the Simon Wiesnthal Centre had notified the Hungarian government that he was resident in Hungary.

He is accused of taking an active role in the deportation of 15,700 Jews from Kosice, now in Slovakia, in 1944.

Csatáry, 97, has been placed under house arrest in view of his age.

Prime Minister’s Office state secretary Péter Szijjártó asked US authorities during his visit to Washington last week to shut down the US-based server that hosts the Kuruc website. However, US authorities say such action would violate the country’s laws on freedom of expression.
