Extremists Burn Israeli Flag In Hungary
Far-right radicals burned an Israeli flag outside the synagogue on Dohány utca during a torchlight procession by the youth section of Jobbik on Tuesday evening. The Foreign Ministry condemned the act, saying it is unacceptable in democratic Hungary in the 21st century that anyone be insulted because of their Jewish identity.

The statement said the government “is committed to fighting all forms of anti-Semitism and racism, and takes firm action against such dangerous phenomena with all available means.”

The Interior Ministry stated on Tuesday that “far-right counter-demonstrators verbally insulted” arrivals for the Milla demonstration and police restored order by forming a double line Tuesday.

Israeli ambassador Ilan Mor told ATV on Tuesday evening that this is a very alarming development.

Jobbik said in a statement that those who burned the Israeli flag are not members of the party nor its youth section, adding that the incident “may be an act of provocation”.
