New Checks On Bars In Heritage Sites In Budapest

Parliament passed an amendment submitted by Fifth District mayor and Fidesz MP Antal Rogán and others on Monday under which police must review permits annually for keeping bars open at night in Unesco World Heritage locations.
Under the new law the effect of a night spot on public safety, personal safety, and property security must be examined. Police can now review and even revoke a permit based on reports filed by local residents, at any time.
