First Holocaust Denial Conviction In Hungary
The first verdict meted out for denial of the Holocaust has become final yesterday as the Budapest Court upheld a lower court ruling. A court last June 12 sentenced the 42-year-old defendant to an 18-month prison term, suspended for three years, and ordered him placed under supervision of a probation officer.

The court also ordered the defendant not to attend political rallies or demonstrations and to visit Budapest’s Holocaust Memorial Centre at least three times and sum up his thoughts or, alternatively, to visit the Auschwitz memorial site or the Yad Vashem memorial park in Jerusalem and express his thoughts thereon.

The defendant held up a sign with the words, in Hebrew “the Holocaust did not happen” at a demonstration on October 23, 2011.
