Energy Regulations In Hungary Changed
Petrol will be dyed in future to show that excise tax has been paid on it, under an energy service regulation bill passed yesterday. In another change, electricity and gas distributors will have to read household meters quarterly if the client so prefers. At present, energy distributors may read the meters no more than once a year.

The bill states that electricity cannot be switched off for a residential building with more than five floors if a disabled person lives there or when forced collections have been started against non-paying owners.

In addition, electricity service must be restored more quickly upon payment if it has been disconnected due to non-payment.
