Transport Service Changes In Budapest On 15 March 2013
On 15 March 2013, our national holiday, several events will be held in Budapest, due to which there will be road closures, among others, on the Lánchíd (Chain Bridge), on Múzeum körút, Kossuth Lajos tér, in Buda Castle, on Andrássy út, Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, Március 15. tér, as well as in the vicinity of Erzsébet híd and in the 16th and 18th districts. Tram lines 2, 47 and 49; bus lines 5, 7, 7E, 8, 16, 86, 105, 109,112, 115, 125, 173, 173E, 178, 184, 224 and trolleybus line 83 will run on modified routes.

For reaching the city centre throughout the day, we recommend metro lines M1, M2 and M3 or tram lines 4 and 6. On the day of the holiday commemorating the Revolution and War of Independence of 1848-’49, Sunday timetables will apply for public transport services. Motorists are also recommended to leave their cars behind and opt for public transport this day due to road closures and expected congestion. On 15 March, please check our Facebook page (in Hungarian) for regular updates about the actual situation.

Public parking will be free of charge on the whole territory of Budapest this Friday, while regular fees apply for parking even on the holiday in the BKK-operated parking lots on Margitsziget, in the Rákóczi tér parking garage and in the P+R parking lots located at Kőbánya-Kispest metro station, Újpest-Városközpont and in Hűvösvölgy.
