Hungary's Ruling Party Fidesz Warned Would-Be Thieves

Anyone who commits burglary during the flood could be sentenced to three to ten years in prison, Mate Kocsis, chairman of Parliament's law enforcement committee, reminded reporters. The Fidesz MP said theft in an extraordinary situation is now treated as a serious crime under tighter provisions in the criminal code that went into force last May.
Budapest Police have set up an investigative team in response to citizens’ reports that “suspicious” people have appeared in districts threatened by the flood.
