Pollster Gives Opposition A Chance In Hungary
A change of government is possible next year if the opposition can mobilise undecided voters, a leading pollster said yesterday. Tibor Závecz, research director at Ipsos, told ATV that Fidesz has two million supporters, while the Socialists and the Together-Dialogue alliance have 1.5 million.

Slightly fewer than 1.5 million undecided voters could be persuaded to vote, he said.

Formal co-operation between the two opposition allies could generate more votes, but it could also spur on Fidesz supporters, he remarked.

Neither the Tavares report nor the tobacconist controversy have left deep traces on voters, Závecz continued, adding that it is primarily higher prices that cause measurable discontent.
