Southern Section Of The Pest-Side Quay Closed For Two Weeks Due To Reconstruction
The Salkaházi Sára rakpart, the Pest-side quay between Szabadság híd (Liberty Bridge) and Közraktár utca, is being reconstructed due partly to the M4 station construction works and to the damages caused by the recent floods. The Salkaházi quay will be closed to traffic for the period of the works starting on Saturday 3 August 2013 and lasting for about two weeks. BKK suggests Belgrád rakpart, Fővám tér and Sóház utca as an alternative route from the north and the Buda quay from the south.

The surface of the road was damaged due to the recent floods, and this requires its full replacement at a number of places.

For the approximately two-week period of the works, the following traffic diversions will be put in place for the southern Pest quay by the public roads operator of the Budapest Municipality, Budapest Transport Centre (BKK):

- The section of the quay between Havas utca and Közraktár utca will be closed. Form the north, traffic will be diverted to the Belgrád rakpart at Petőfi tér, and Közraktár utca may be reached in the Fővám tér and Sóház utca direction.

- In the period of the diversion, the entire section of the quay will closed to buses and trucks, and the temporary parking place for tourist buses will be Belgrád rakpart 18.

- The section of the quay between Irányi utca and Havas utca is one-way from the north, and now only cars heading to the temporary parking lot will be allowed into the area. The parking lot can be left through the temporary connection at the Havas utca junction in the direction of Vámház körút.

- Traffic from the south will be directed to Vámház körút through Csarnok tér and Pipa utca. BKK suggests that the drivers heading from south Pest to north Pest should use the Buda-side quay.

The aim of Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) is to ensure that traffic remains as undisturbed as possible during the works. We kindly request travellers to have patience for the period of the works, and we also thank them for their understanding.
