Gellért Hill In Budapest Set For Makeover
The current tenants of the Citadella fortress atop Gellért hill are to be evicted, as the 11th District plans a thorough renovation of the hill, a popular tourist spot. The Administration Ministry ruled last month that the tenants’ use of the premises is not consistent with World Heritage requirements, and transferred the operating rights of the facilities to the state asset manager MNV.

The MNV gave the operating rights to the 11th District on November 7.

Mayor Tamás Hoffmann said the district will invite professional organisations to submit ideas and plans in the spring for comprehensive tourism development projects for the entire Gellért hill.
