Fully 73,987 children were born, 2.3% less than in the same period in 2012 while the number of deaths dropped by 2.8% to 104,905, according to Central Statistical Office (KSH) preliminary data.

The natural rate of population decline eased to 0.37%, or 30,918 people, during the period, from 0.39% in Jan-Oct 2012. In the first ten months, 33,129 marriages were registered, up 1.4% on the same period in 2012.
