Hungary ’s Economic Sentiment Indicator Highest In Europe
Hungary had the highest economic sentiment indicator (ESI) in the European Union in December, the latest figures by the European Commission released on Thursday showed. Hungary had an ESI of 115.3 points in December, up from 110.9 points in November.

The ESI is made up of five subindices showing economic sentiment in industry, the services sector, construction, retail trade and retail consumption. All of Hungary’s subindices improved in December last year, except for the consumer index, which fell slightly.

Hungary’s combined ESI had not been this high since October 2002, when it was 117.5 points. ESI increased by 1.6 point to 100 in the 17 euro zone countries last December, the highest level since July 2011.
