Hungary’s Catering Fee Cap: Tip Rules and Tax-Free Benefits

The National Economy Ministry said it planned to cap catering service fees and ensure that waitstaff get their tips, tax-free, regardless if paid in cash or by card, in a statement issued.
In cooperation with professional associations, the ministry said service fees would be capped at 15pc for private individuals and at 20pc for corporate functions.
Public consultations on the measures started on Friday, 15 November.
