Hungary’s NAV Scrutinising Packages With Tobacco
- 6 Jan 2014 8:00 AM
Tax office NAV is scrutinising packages shipped within Hungary that contain tobacco products in an effort to crack down on the illegal tobacco market, NAV said on its Facebook page. NAV said it had seized more than one and a half tonnes of illegal tobacco products worth some 20 million forints (EUR 67,000).
Most of the untaxed tobacco was found in eastern Hungary, where much of the domestic tobacco crop comes from. Parties that sell tobacco products without a permit can be fined 5-500 million forints.
