Support For Left-Of-Centre Unity In Hungary Dented By Simon Revelations
Voter support for Hungary’s left-of-centre parties has shrunk from 24% in January to 18% in February, pollster Nézőpont found. Support for the Unity alliance was likely shaken by a recent scandal concerning the undeclared assets of former Socialist deputy chair Gábor Simon, the pollster said.

The proportion of left-leaning respondents among people determined to cast their ballot on April 6 went down from 26% to 17%. Fully 37% of Nézőpont’s whole sample backed the ruling Fidesz- Christian Democratic parties, 18% favoured Unity, 12% radical nationalist Jobbik, and 3% small opposition LMP.

Fully 62% of all respondents declared their intention to cast their ballot. Among decided voters, the ruling parties enjoy 47% support, while 17% would vote for Unity, 12% for Jobbik and 2% for LMP.
