Wizz Air’s 'Famous Flight' From London To Budapest Departs On Time, Again
- 7 Apr 2014 9:00 AM
Bounty hunters, eager to cash in on passenger compensation claims, had spread rumors about the punctuality of this flight by counting as on time only those flights that departed ahead of schedule. Between 1 June 2013 and today almost 50% of W62206 flights departed at 2:25pm GMT with another 26% departing within 15 minutes of the scheduled departure time, which by international industry standards and according to the UK CAA constitutes an on time departure. Last month (February) 88% of all Wizz Air flights from Luton departed on time.
Wizz Air spokesman Daniel de Carvalho said: "We are thrilled by the publicity enjoyed by our London-Budapest service after some bounty hunters made false claims about our punctuality record. Today’s flight W62206 departed exactly at 2:25pm GMT, and joined the other 73% of on time daily departures with the same flight number.
Not only is Wizz Air the second largest carrier at London Luton Airport, with 28 routes to Central and Eastern Europe, but we’re also obsessed about good customer service. On time departures and, more importantly, on time arrivals are two of the key service deliveries our customers enjoy every day on hundreds of flights. We want to thank all bounty hunters for giving our flight so much free worldwide publicity as since yesterday Wizz Air flight W62206 has become one of the most talked about flights – while enjoying almost 80% on time landings!”
