Hungary’s Kelemen Quartet Wins Borciani Competition
Hungary’s Kelemen Quartet has won Italy’s Premio Paolo Borciani international String Quartet Competition that ended at the weekend, Barnabás Kelemen told MTI. The quartet fetched first prize ahead of nine other ensembles in what is among the world’s most prestigious competitions.

It played works by Beethoven, Schumann, Mozart, Haydn, Bartók and Thomas Ades in the gruelling competition held in four rounds over seven days.

In the final on Sunday, they performed Béla Bartók’s fifth string quartet before the international jury that included acclaimed Argentinian pianist Martha Argerich.
