TEK Trouble: Hungary's Counter-Terrorism Chief Added to Activists' Ukraine Enemies List
- 7 Mar 2026 10:06 AM
The site claims Hajdu was listed for his alleged involvement in the "abduction of Ukrainian citizens" and the "theft of Ukrainian state funds and special vehicles", as well as actions "aimed at inciting hostility between nations and states".
According to the entry, Hajdu was appointed TEK director by a government decree dated Sept 1, 2010. The website says he previously served as head of Orban's personal security detail and as security director for the ruling Fidesz party.
Among its sources, Myrotvorets cites a Friday post by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on X, in which he reportedly "described Hungary's actions as hostage-taking, robbery, state terrorism and blackmail".
Meanwhile, DefMin: Ukraine waging 'hybrid warfare' against Hungary
Ukraine is "waging hybrid warfare" against Hungary, escalating with President Volodymyr Zelensky's "unacceptable" comments about Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Defence Minister Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky said in a conversation on public cultural TV channel M5.
"Ukraine will stop at nothing; the most notorious example of their operations was blowing up Nord Stream," Szalay-Bobrovniczky said, adding: "Hungary is a target … because we act in our own interest in this terrible war, refusing to send weapons, money … or troops, and opposing Ukraine's European Union accession. From that perspective, this makes Hungary an enemy."
Szalay-Bobrovniczky condemned Zelensky's threat against the Hungarian prime minister as an "unacceptable provocation" fitting the pattern of hybrid warfare.
"They're constantly raising the stakes, increasing tension to inflict political damage on Hungary," he said.
The minister described the closure of the Druzhba oil pipeline as a "high-level escalation" in this campaign, designed to destabilise Hungary's energy, economy, and transport. He confirmed the military was protecting critical infrastructure, with "more than enough" forces deployed.
Meanwhile, the minister said Brussels, Kyiv and Hungary's opposition were "colluding" in connection with the Druzhba pipeline's restoration, insisting the opposition was receiving support from Brussels and Kyiv to win the election.
On a 2022 Ukrainian drone incursion, he said it could now be considered as having been a "dress rehearsal" for testing Hungary’s response, noting significant defence upgrades since, including airspace restrictions and the development of the Humars artillery system, a Hungarian-Czech project with export potential.
Asked about the two prisoners of war brought back to Hungary, Szalay-Bobrovniczky said "only this government and this prime minister" could bring them home.
