Protect Iraq Christians, Hungary’s PM Urges
Hungary’s premier has asked the EU to intervene in Iraq to protect the country’s Christians. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has asked President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy to intervene to protect Christians in Iraq.

The Hungarian government is deeply concerned about the brutal violence that threatens the very existence of Iraq’s Christian community, Orbán said in his letter to Rompuy.

He asked Rompuy to include a discussion of the Christian community’s situation in Iraq on the agenda of the European Council’s next meeting at the end of August.

He confirmed that Hungary supports all solutions that guarantee the existence and future of the Christian community.
