Fired Teachers in Hungary Win Big in Court Case
A court yesterday awarded Ft 50 million to four teachers who had opted for “extraordinary resignation”, who were not paid overtime money which would have been roughly Ft 200,000, ATV reports.

A total of 147 teachers had sued their local school board in connection with the overtime classes.

Teacher István Hende told ATV that the educators had won first- and second-level rulings and the school board began paying compensation to everybody when the verdicts became binding.

Four teachers won binding lawsuits against the school administrators in cases of extraordinary resignation due to non-payment. In such cases, the teacher is entitled to double severance pay, as well as an absence fee for the period of their suspension.

They are to paid Ft 12-15 million each.
