Budapest Court Postpones Decision On FHB Bank Loan Contract Case
The Budapest Municipal Court postponed a ruling on FHB Kereskedelmi Bank’s loan contracts until September 17 at a hearing on Tuesday. The court also rejected the bank’s request to suspend the case and turn to the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Justice on the matter.

The decision mirrored many others the court has taken in recent days regarding lenders, including FHB Mortgage Bank, and their contracts with borrowers.

Under legislation approved in the summer, Hungarian banks must compensate borrowers for unilateral changes made to loan contracts unless they can successfully defend the practice in court.

The court is expected to rule on more than 50 such defence cases in a relatively narrow timeframe.
