Govt To Provide Funding To Jewish Communities In Hungary
The government will provide substantial funding for Hungary’s Jewish community in 2015, the Government Information Centre told MTI late on Tuesday.

Keeping the community’s requests and proposals in view, the government will support several priority projects, including the renovation of synagogues in Budapest’s Rumbach Sebestyén Street and Miskolc (NE), maintenance of the synagogue of Szeged (S), as well as the reconstruction of a Budapest care home and the library of the University of Jewish Studies in Budapest, it said.

The government will also earmark funds for refurbishing the interior of the synagogue of Subotica (Szabadka), northern Serbia, the centre said.

The government will continue to engage in talks with Hungarian and foreign Jewish experts on the concept for the House of Fates project, it said.

The House of Fates memorial and education centre, currently under construction, is planned to be set up in the disused Józsefváros train station in Budapest’s 8th district.
