Hungary’s President: Joint Efforts Needed To Combat Problems Linked To Climate Change
The government and the opposition, cities and villages, large corporations and small civil organisations, the young and old must join forces to combat problems connected with climate change, President Janos Ader said, briefing parliament about the UN climate summit he attended in New York last month.

He argued for the importance of environmental protection and highlighted concrete Hungarian examples, such as the need to build five new reservoirs near the River Tisza in the years to come to protect some 1.5 million people living in the area.

He noted that there had been record floods in recent years on the River Danube and other rivers in Hungary and it is unavoidable that height of dams should be raised.
