Hungary Ready For Ebola, Say Officials
Although the chance of Ebola arriving in Hungary is slim, Hungarian health authorities are prepared to tackle the virus and prevent the outbreak of an epidemic, the foreign ministry’s state secretary said on Thursday.

Hungary is a member of the international alliance set up after a UN conference in September was convened to provide a faster response to tackling the virus, István Mikola, who is in charge of security policy and international cooperation, told a press conference.

Judit Paller, the acting chief medical officer, said that Hungary had maintained contact with international organisations since the outbreak of Ebola and mapped possible routes of how it may spread.

A contingency plan is in place and the relevant healthcare institutions and authorities are prepared, she said.

Currently authorities are weighing up further possibilities of risk that include the return of Hungarians from missions in the affected areas as well as illegal immigration, she added.
