Farkas said he rejected McCain’s recent assertion concerning Viktor Orbán. In the letter he briefed McCain about “all the facts that item-by-item contradict the senator’s -- perhaps rash -- allegations”.

Farkas added that he had officially sent a copy of the letter to the US chargé d’affaires in Budapest, André Goodfriend.
