Hungary’s Ruling Party Fidesz MPs Fined Over Voting Choices
Fidesz MPs János Bencsik and Béla Dankó have been fined Ft 100,000 for voting against the party caucus on Monday. Bencsik abstained from voting on an amendment to the law on social care and voted against the bill on creating a state monopoly on the distribution of tobacco products between wholesalers and retailers.

“I guess this is part of the new culture”, he said on his Facebook page.

He added “Our children are learning that there are cultures calling themselves Christian Democratic where conscience can be measured by money”.

Bencsik concluded by writing “I am and remain a member of the polgári political community”.

Dankó voted against a motion on state media.
