Szijjártó Calls For Hungary - US Settlement

Problematic issues dogging Hungarian- US political relations can only be resolved through a mutual effort, Hungary’s foreign minister said. Péter Szijjártó told commercial HírTV that it is in Hungary’s interest to close these chapters as soon as possible. If the US government is really concerned about corruption, Hungary will gladly cooperate on this matter, he said.
But the fight against corruption must involve the resolution of concrete cases rather than a general onslaught. This is why the Hungarian government’s request for evidence is legitimate, he insisted, adding that no such information or documents have been handed over.
The minister noted that three new US investments are set to launch in Hungary in a combined value of 15.5 million dollars, creating 510 jobs. Cooperation with US companies has always been problem-free and these companies employ 90,000 Hungarians, he said.
The government is signing its tenth strategic cooperation agreement with a US company on Thursday, he added.
