Hungaria Company Pick Workers Stage Brief Strike
- 27 Feb 2015 8:00 AM
Employees were protesting against extra workloads without compensation and that some contracted workers received higher wages than directly employed personnel.
The work stoppage lasted five and a half hours until an agreement between unions and management was announced following the arrival of CEO Endre Nagy from the company’s Szeged headquarters.
It was agreed that workers will receive three months of bonus payments on extra workloads retroactively in the form of fringe benefits.
The two sides will start talks on launching a new wage scheme from May 1, which will also address the problem of labour shortages.
Unions are pressing for a 8-10% wage hike.
