Hungary’s Fidesz Youth Ex-Leader Caught With Forged Notes
Áron Veress, former head of the youth chapter of Fidesz, was arrested on Friday, when he attempted to exchange a counterfeit €100 note at a currency change office in Keleti train station. The owner of the office informed the police when he noticed what was clearly a forged note.

Police searched Veress’s home and discovering another 297 counterfeit €100 notes.

Veress told police that he gave €8,000 to Romanian and Moldavian businessmen more than a year ago and got back the amount with interest, and collected the €30,000 in Milan.

Fidesz announced that Veress had been expelled from the party in 2012.

However, the newspaper Zalaegerszegi 7 nap reported in December that Veress had participated at a dinner of the youth chapters of Fidesz and the Christian Democrats, Népszabadság underlines.

Veress made a speech there, as did deputy Speaker of Parliament Gergely Gulyás.

Other sources note that Veress was prominently mentioned in Fidesz press releases in 2013.
