Partial Solar Eclipse Visible From Hungary On 20 March
A partial, close to 60 per cent solar eclipse will be visible from Hungary on 20 March 2015, meaning that the Moon will cover almost two thirds of the Sun at the peak of the phenomenon. Although the country will not plunge into darkness, the amount of sunshine will decrease significantly during the partial eclipse.

Several events will be held across the country for those interested in observing the extraordinary natural phenomenon with binoculars equipped with purpose-made filters and protective goggles. The eclipse will be visible in its totality only in the Atlantic Ocean, far away from inhabited areas.

In Budapest, the eclipse will begin at 9:39:28 am, peak at 10:48:30 and end at 11:59:44. The phenomenon will take place at roughly the same time across the country, with differences of a few minutes in its beginning and end depending on the exact location of observation.

Also in the capital, a presentation will be held at the parking lot in front of the building of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences on Széchenyi tér, at the Pest bridgehead of the Chain Bridge, between 9 am and 13 pm. The event is open to all and can be visited free of charge.
