UNHCR Shocked By Hungarian Questionnaire
- 26 May 2015 9:00 AM
A Commission statement said “We are shocked by the Prime Minister’s introductory message which suggests a link between migration and terrorist attacks”.
It also expressed concern over the phrasing of some of the “suggestive, leading questions, which actively promote hostility toward migrants and risk spreading xenophobia within the country”.
Pouilly said “it is the government’s duty to fight against discrimination and xenophobia and by linking migration and terrorism it is doing the opposite,” adding “this is fundamentally discriminatory” and “these people are entitled to their human rights as much as anybody else”.
