Some 5,000-7,000 pages of documents from the 1940s were recently discovered during the renovation of a flat on Kossuth tér. The documents provide information about the forced relocation of Jewish residents of Budapest’s 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th Districts to houses marked with a yellow star.
The extremely rare documents were transferred to the Budapest Archives.
Nearly 200,000 Budapest Jews had to move to buildings marked with a star of David on June 21, 1944. There were about 2,000 such buildings in Budapest.
