The world, the developed world should not consider this a challenge only for the Europeans,” Orbán said on Tuesday in the interview on the sidelines of the United Nations general assembly.

He defended Hungary’s stricter measures criminalising border violations and the fence on the country’s southern border.

“The US and other countries, and even the rich Arab countries should take some [refugees] because Europe cannot handle [them].

The crisis could destabilise Europe easily. It’s not difficult to imagine that one or two years from now the old political elite will be replaced by the radicals,” the prime minister said, adding that Hungary does not need the migrants.

“The job of the world today is not to give a new life to these people but to provide a chance to continue their own life at home. Morally, this is the right thing to do,” Orbán said.

“Muslim culture is very strong, we don’t oppose it but we haven’t had those parallel societies that are not integrated into European values,” he added.
