Prosecution Orders Investigation Over Hungarian Camerawoman Seen Tripping Migrants
The Szeged district prosecutor has launched an investigation into the case of the camerawoman who was seen kicking and tripping up migrants on a camera footage which has circulated heavily on the internet. The prosecution has received complaints that the woman working for the online N1 television channel at the site of the Röszke border collection point had been physically belligerent with several migrants, among them children, Sándor Törő, the deputy chief prosecutor of Csongrád County, said.

The opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) and Dialogue for Hungary (PM) parties filed criminal complaints against the woman. N1TV said she had been fired and the company considers “the case closed”.

Citing the video footage, DK said “a woman wearing jeans and holding a camera is seen kicking migrants at the Röszke border point.” Several cameras also recorded that “the woman purposely tripped a running man who was holding a child,” DK said earlier.

The woman was “working for the radical nationalist Jobbik party’s propaganda TV,” DK added.

Opposition Dialogue for Hungary (PM) said they would also file a criminal complaint for “violence against a member of a community”.
